Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Canada Day: What are your Plans?

In Quebec, we are lucky to celebrate two national holidays one week apart from each other.

While everyone across Canada celebrates our nation’s birthday on July 1st, we in Quebec, kick off a week of celebrations with our own Saint-Jean-Baptiste holiday on June 24th.
How will you be celebrating a week's worth of festivities?

Picnicking or Packing?

In Montreal, we also call July 1st Moving Day.  Dating back many years, and considering our long winters and school schedules, this is the day in Montreal when most leases are renewed. Statistics from 2011, show that an average of 130,000 people move residence on July 1st every year, while the rest of us our enjoying picnics with family and friends.  Learn 30 tips that will help you make moving day easier.

While Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day kicks off packing week, recruiting friends and family to help, arranging truck and pizza deliveries, for many, Canada Day is all about meeting new neighbours and planting roots on new soil. When you’ve settled in, don’t forget to gift yourself for all your hard work with an In-Home Massage with ArcoIris Refined Massotherapies to knead away all those sore muscles. Book online at your convenience.

Barbequing?

Grilling is an activity that many people enjoy all year long but most Canadians take advantage of every holiday and weekend during our short summer months. June 24th also marks the time of year when most school children and teens are done with books for the summer allowing families to plan fun activities.  If you haven’t used your barbeque during the winter months while in your parka, insulated gloves and sub-zero temperatures, it will need some prepping.  Make sure that the gas tank has not passed its expiry date, and that it’s full and ready to go.  Your grills should be clean and rust free: if not get them cleaned and greased up.  Learn more.

Cottage Living?

Whether you are lucky to own your own, have access to one or rent one regularly, this time of year is when we inaugurate summer fun!  School’s out, vacation time and banked overtime hours are waiting to be spent and the sun is high in the sky.  Relaxing regularly away from the city and into the deep woods or next to a lake is by far the best activity to relax, restore and rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit.  The scent of nature in the summer and the sounds of the slapping waves on the shore are enough to send your endorphins to a dance party.   If you are looking for a private lake-front space deep in the woods of the Laurentians, Quebec, book Chez Mina, a beautiful space only 45 minutes away from Mont Tremblant.

Book Chez Mina now while space is still available.
