Changes Arco Iris Massage & Reiki is Implementing for COVID-19 Protection

Arco Iris’ In-Studio Premium Massage & Reiki Services Will Resume On June 30th!

We feel truly blessed that we are re-opening our doors to our valued clients during this trying period.  As such, we will be striving to integrate all current hygiene practices recommended by the government and our professional associations.

We have implemented changes to respond to the COVID-19 safety measures.  Some of the changes include limits on the type of services offered, an increase in price, pre-screening measures, and safety measures upon arriving at our massage studio.

OUR COVID-19 DEFENSE

The Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail's (Standards, Fairness, Occupational Health and Safety Commission) web site was the main information source which provided the guidelines and procedures that will be implemented at our clinic.  Learn more about massage and COVID-19 prevention.

The primary safety points are intuitive by now: avoid symptomatic individuals, practice physical distancing, wash hands, follow respiratory etiquette, and practice regular sanitization of equipment and surfaces.

We will never offer our services while displaying symptoms or receive a client while they are showing signs of COVID-19 infection.  Only one client will be allowed in the office space at a time and distancing precautions will be upheld where possible.  Proper hand washing solutions and stations will be available.

We will be wearing the recommended face/eyewear when interacting with clients, and we urge our customers to do so as well.  According to a document released by the Institut National de Santé Publique du Quebec (National Institute of Public Health of Quebec), clients are not required to wear a face-covering during the massage. 

All of our cleaning products will be Health Canada approved to fight Sars-Cov-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and we will have bottles of 70% hydro alcoholic solutions available. You can source these products by checking the Drug Identification Number (DIN) on the disinfectant label and then cross-reference this number with Health Canada's official list of disinfectants for use against COVID-19.

OUR TRAINING 

Our therapists have taken mandatory courses covering hygiene and sanitation for massage therapists during the outbreak. This training was offered by Soins personnels Québec: Comité sectoriel de la main d'oeuvre des services de soins personnels (Personal Care Quebec: Sectoral Committee for Manpower in Personal Care Services). 

Prepared with this information and education, we have decided to uphold all sanitation guidelines for the epidemic.  We are prepared to keep all shared spaces immaculate before, during, and after each session. Every additional safety step that we take during the pandemic can go a long way towards the collective health of our community.

STAFF EXPECTATIONS

We will be wearing protection at every step of the way during our massage sessions. During massages, we will wear face masks, and eye protection that will be disposed of, washed or cleaned in between massages.

After reviewing all of the current information, we have also decided to change our professional clothing between each massage. We cleanse our hands before and after our session, and we will honor the sixty-minute interval between sessions, where we will sanitize, freshen, and renew our space before welcoming you in for your rejuvenating treatment.

FOR OUR CLIENTS

Booking:  booking sessions can be done via text messaging 514-812-9092, email sandra@arcoiris.ca, or on our online booking system. The items exchanged electronically will contain preliminary information regarding respiratory etiquette and nuances regarding sanitization.  At this stage of registration, you will be informed not to come to the session if you are displaying any signs of COVID-19, have come in contact with anyone who has displayed any signs of COVID-19, or have travelled outside of Canada within the previous two weeks.

The services that will NOT be available are:  couple’s massage, hot stone and cupping massage therapies, unless clients bring and use their own silicone cups. 

We will only offer our premium service, the 60 minute Arco Iris Signature Massage, which is what all our loyal clients have been receiving from our most experienced Massage Therapists.  Want details of our certifications? Bios here.  

The Arco Iris Signature Massage combines 20 years of experience and an extensive list of specialties:  Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Aromatherapy, Foot Reflexology, Craniosacral Therapy, Advanced Reiki Levels 4-9, Shamanic Healing Work and Crystal Healing Therapy.  The price for this service is $115 for 60 minutes.

Payments:  Whenever possible, payments should be made online. First-time clients will need to pay online before the session.  Our loyal customers may pay electronically before or after the session.  Payment terminals are only to be used as a last resort and will be sanitized between uses.  For the sake of preventing any possibility of contamination, insurance receipts will be issued online.

Before your arrival to our office space:  when possible, please leave jewelry/extra items in the car and bring your own water bottle. We will still provide water and sanitized glasses as needed.

Upon arrival to our office space:  please arrive at exactly your scheduled time; only one client will be allowed on the premises at a time. There will be no waiting room available, just the bathroom and massage room.  The massage room, bathroom, and entranceway will be immaculate.

If you were wearing gloves before coming in, you will be asked to dispose of them. Hand disinfectants will be available at the entrance. We will provide you with disposable masks, tissues, and a clean hand towel for your use only. 

You will be asked to handle all personal items, clothes, coats, jackets, shoes, umbrellas, etc. This will help to prevent cross-contamination. These items will be placed in a designated, disinfected area with standard storage/hanging options.

Screening before the session:  our clients will be asked to sign a pre-screening statement.

During the massage:  we will interact closely while carefully following the highest cleanliness standards. The massages can resume as usual, with hands bare while our staff wear high-quality protective equipment preventing any possibility of contamination.

After the massage: our clients will be asked to sign a post-session statement. This statement indicates that both the client and therapist complied with all established hygiene measures during the session, including validation of the client having no active symptoms at the start of the meeting.  Upon leaving, there will be a space for the disposal of face masks.
