Essential Tips for a Quarantine-Style Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is coming up soon, and you know what that means - it’s time to honor one of the most important people in our lives: our Moms.

This year, though, Mother’s Day is going to be a bit different. We’re all staying home to help flatten the curve during the pandemic, but we can still find ways to make Mom feel loved and appreciated.

For some of us, we’ve been around our family more than usual, but for others, seeing our mothers in person may be challenging because of social distancing restrictions. Either way, with a little bit of imagination, and a whole lot of love, we can still make this a Mother’s Day to remember.

Make Mother’s Day Special, Quarantine-Style!

Living with Mom? Here Are a Few Suggestions

1) Cook, Clean, and Care!

Okay, so this one isn’t revolutionary. But with everyone stuck at home, Mom is likely working overtime to tidy up, cook the meals, and keep everyone happy.

Time to return the favor!

Cook that special meal, clean up the house before Mom wakes up, cozy up and watch her favorite movie, walk the dog - whatever it takes! For best results, combine this method with a few of the following tips.

2) Order Flowers

Flower businesses are still open and making deliveries! This classic Mother’s Day gift is sure to brighten her up.

When ordering the flowers, let the delivery person leave them on the porch. Then remove any wrapping, and toss it immediately. The flowers themselves do not need to be disinfected. Just give the stems a quick snip, and place them in your favorite vase.

3) Self-Care and Relaxation

Now that Mom’s day is clear, and those beautiful flowers are on the table, help her unwind. Offer a brief massage, draw up an aromatic bath, or let Mom enjoy some time for meditation, yoga, and more!

If you really want her to enjoy the best, buy her a gift card for a private Arco Iris Distance Reiki or Massage Therapy session that she can book at a later date.  Or sign her up for a Free Live Online Yoga Class. We have a variety of time slots available that will suit any schedule.

4) Doodle It Up!

Use the Doodle app to schedule times for friends and family to stop by the house, leave gifts, or say hello through an open window. During these periods of isolation, even a five-minute visit shows that loved ones are willing to go the extra mile. As long as we maintain the mandatory distance, there will be no harm in allowing Mom to say hi to her favorite people.

This is also a fantastic idea if you live close to your mother, and want to allow the extended family a chance to stop by and say hello.

Not Quarantined With Mom? Don’t Worry, We’ve Got You Covered

1) Flowers Galore!

Okay, so this was a part of our list above, but let’s be real, this classic gift can’t be undervalued.  Flower Shops will be happy to deliver a Mother's Day bouquet to your Mom.

2) Enjoy a Meal Together

While you may not be able to enjoy a meal together in person, you could certainly hop on a video call, and enjoy a meal at the same time. How about brunch? Whip something up in the kitchen, pour out a few mimosa’s, and let the good times begin.

If you don’t want to have Mom cooking on her special day, then you could even have a meal delivered to her home so that she can enjoy this time with her family - hassle-free. There are also a variety of bakeries that will deliver if you know that your mother has a passion for sweets.

3) Send An Online Greeting Card

There are a host of incredible websites that will send greeting cards to your mother’s email address with just a few clicks. These can be simple and elegant, or they can be completely customized with music, personalized messages, pictures, and more.

While you may not want to drop off a card in person, this electronic method saves the trouble of making Mom whip out the disinfectant just to receive your loving message.

4) Online Services

There are a variety of online services that would benefit your Mom. During the extended period of isolation, it is particularly important to make sure that your Mom is in good spirits and that her body and mind are nurtured.

Arco Iris is providing many Free Live Online Classes to help everyone during these trying times. So help sign her up, ensure that she knows how to run the Zoom Cloud Meetings app, and let her jump into a little self-care this week. Our private Distance Reiki Healing sessions are just as effective online as they are in person, so do consider purchasing a time slot where she can receive a vital energetic tune-up during these trying times. Or you can purchase a gift card for a Massage Therapy session that she can book at a later date.

Social distancing doesn’t have to be so glum. We just have to dig in, find the love, and spread it with gratitude for everything that these amazing women have done for our lives!
